Garbage On Talanca Beach, Sukabumi, Regency Government Promises Completion

The Sukabumi Regency Government (Pemkab) has confirmed that it will solve the increasingly mounting waste problem on Talanca Beach, Simpenan District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java (West Java).

"The problem of garbage that continues to accumulate on Talanca Beach, Loji Village has indeed been going on for a long time and so far the Sukabumi Regency Government has been trying to overcome it. Therefore, we held a coordination meeting to find a solution so that this waste problem can be resolved quickly," said the Head of the Natural Resources Section (SDA). Regional Secretary (Setda) of Sukabumi Regency, Prasetyo in West Java on Tuesday, May 23.

According to Prasetyo, at this coordination meeting, his party suggested that special equipment be procured to transport garbage in the river, especially in the estuary, because so far the Sukabumi Regency Government has not had it.

The proposal for the procurement of equipment, especially according to the results of the coordination meeting, will soon be reported to its leader, the Regent of Sukabumi. In addition, the coordination meeting also discussed long-term handling and determining the right and fast solutions.

One solution is to empower rural communities or villages whose areas are traversed by river flows, such as providing education to increase their awareness so as not to throw garbage into the river.

As is known, the impact of throwing garbage into the river, apart from being able to cause pollution and natural damage, also has an impact on the economy. Actually, education like this has often been done, but his party admits that not all people who live along the river are educated.

He added that actually the river management is under the authority of the West Java Water Resources Management Agency (PSDA). However, this waste management cannot be done individually but must cooperate with all stakeholders and involve the community.

"The handling of waste at Talanca Beach can also have an impact on other beaches in Sukabumi Regency, therefore at this coordination meeting we focus on finding short, medium and long-term solutions," he added.

On the other hand, Prasetyo said that for this short-term treatment, his party will map the waste downstream of the Cimandiri River, Loji Village and will conduct direct monitoring to the field which is planned for Thursday, May 25.

He continued, handling this waste is indeed the main task of the Sukabumi Regency Environment Agency (DLH) and his party ensures that if only DLH is carried out, it will likely be difficult to complete. So collaboration between regional apparatus organizations must be built by involving the community.
