Focus On Electric Vehicles, Mercedes-Benz Closes CLS Model Production
JAKARTA - The CLS model is one of the leading products of Mercedes-Benz. But the era of the sedan will end.
Reporting from CarAndDriver, Tuesday, May 9, Mercedes-Benz will stop the CLS model at the end of August 2023. the manufacturer nicknamed the "silver pan" also has no intention of replacing this model.
"Considering the global growth potential, and as part of our strategic product portfolio planning, we have decided to end the CLS life cycle on August 31, 2023, along with the E-Class turn to the 214 model series," said Steffen Schierholz, Manager of Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans.
Mercedes is one of many manufacturers preparing for the full realm of electrification. And they will fully sell electric vehicle models starting in 2030.
For that purpose, Mercedes intends to reduce sales of internal combustion engines (ICE) even though the European Union allows to sell ICE-engined cars by 2035 with e-fuels, this German manufacturer has no interest in e-fuels.
The CLS model was first introduced in 2004 at the Geneva Motor Show. This car has a different design, but still leaves a distinctive elegant impression of the manufacturer.
