Deputy Speaker Of The House Of Representatives Ensures That The Asset Confiscation Bill Process Is In Accordance With Mechanism
JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said that the DPR will process the Draft Law (RUU) on the Confiscation of Criminal Assets in accordance with the applicable mechanism.
"We will follow the existing mechanisms in the DPR to carry out any legal processes that are included in the Prolegnas (National Legislation Program) in accordance with existing mechanisms," Dasco told reporters quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 11.
This, he said, also applies the same as the DPR processes other bills.
However, Dasco denied that the DPR seemed slow in rolling out the discussion of the Asset Confiscation Bill. He said that the DPR was supposed to wait for steps from the Government because the Asset Confiscation Bill, which has been included in the 2023 Prolegnas, was a proposal from the government.
"We have often heard that the DPR has hampered the Asset Confiscation Bill even though its presidential surpres (presidential letter) and DIM (LIST of Problem Inventory) have never been sent to the DPR, and have just returned to the DPR," he said.
