Mataram City Government Asks PUPR Service To Accelerate Embankment Installation On Mapak Beach Which Is Hit By Abrasion At The End Of 2022
The Mataram City Government has asked the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR) to accelerate the installation of embankment safety or "cryprap" along Mapak Indah Beach. The beach was hit badly by abrasion at the end of 2022.
Assistant II for the Development and Economic Administration of the Mataram City Secretariat Lalu Alwan Basri said that PUPR is expected to be able to take advantage of good weather conditions and current sloping waves.
"While the weather is good and sloping, PUPR can speed up the installation of the script in Mapak Indah. Don't wait for the next tidal wave season to come again," he said in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, Friday, May 5, as reported by Antara.
Alwan, who previously served as Head of the Mataram City Marine and Fisheries Service, said that with the current sloping coastal waves, it is hoped that there will be no obstacles in the field.
"So if possible before one month, the installation of the script in Mapak Indah has been completed," he said.
Meanwhile, the confirmed Head of the Mataram City PUPR Service, Miftahurrahman, said that the work of installing the script at Mapak Indah Beach had now begun.
If there are no obstacles in the implementation of the work, he continued, it will be tried at least in one month.
"But our target is as soon as possible if necessary less than one, because now the position is approaching the completion of the work. Hopefully, these weeks will be completed," he said.
According to him, the safety of the embankment or "cryptop" is in the form of installing large stones that are neatly arranged to prevent tidal waves from hitting the embankment which can have an impact on abrasion.
"For installation, we adjust it according to wave conditions. So we can do it in the morning below 10.00 WITA, afternoon or even night when the waves slope like when we were working on the rap at Loang Beach, Baloq," he said.

He said, with the current budget of Rp. 200 million, the length of the crypt to be built in Mapak Indah is about 20 meters with a width of about 4-5 meters.
Actually, said Miftahurrahman, according to conditions in the Mapak Indah Beach area, the length of the crypt or embankment needed is about 250-300 meters to the north and south of Mapak Indah, by prioritizing areas that have residential areas.
It's just that because the budget is limited, the installation of the script will be carried out in stages. Maybe in the 2023 revised APBD, his party can propose again the budget for the manufacture of the crypt or proposed by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
"The crypto method to prevent this beach abrasion is much more effective because it can function to break the waves," he said.
The Mapak Indah Beach area is a priority to install embankment safety using the crypt method because on December 25, 2022, around 29 families (KK) were affected by coastal abrasion and dozens of houses were swept away by tidal waves.
"Therefore, the city government must move quickly because there are still many houses behind the houses of residents who were swept away by the tidal waves," he concluded.
