Commission XI Hopes The Money Laundering Task Force Can Brighten The Ministry Of Finance's Odd Transactions

JAKARTA - Commission XI of the House of Representatives supports the task force (Satgas) for Money Laundering (TPPU) to thoroughly investigate the polemic of odd transactions of Rp. 349 trillion at the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu). The TPPU Task Force is reminded to work independently.

The polemic of this odd transaction must be completed with legal certainty because it has caused public unrest. With the establishment of the TPPU Task Force, I hope this case does not work on the spot and there is legal certainty," said Member of Commission XI of the DPR, Willy Aditya, Thursday, May 4.

The House of Representatives Commission in charge of Financial Affairs also reminded the TPPU Task Force to provide an explanation to the public regarding its functions and duties. According to Willy, the number of members of the TPPU Task Force who mention the Ministry of Finance should not overlap with the realm of legal authority of existing institutions.

"Don't let it just get busy in the news but there is no conclusion from the legal side. Everyone must work according to their main duties and authorities," said the Deputy Chairman of the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI.

Willy also highlighted the existence of members of the TPPU Task Force who came from within the Ministry of Finance. He asked the Head of the TPPU Committee Team, Mahfud MD, to closely monitor the investigation process of the odd transaction of Rp. 349 trillion.

"According to Pak Mahfud's explanation, it is not possible to remove part of the Ministry of Finance from the TPPU Task Force because the Ministry of Finance has pro-judiciary authority," said Willy.

"But I remind you again, if that's the case, Mr. Mahfud as Chairman of the Committee must closely monitor it. Do not let the inclusion of the Ministry of Finance become a boomerang and make people distrust," he added.

Willy said that odd transactions at the Ministry of Finance must be disclosed clearly. Because if not, the level of public trust in the Ministry of Finance will continue to decline.

"The settlement of this case will also be a gift for the public who are furious at the unethical behavior of some unscrupulous officials," said Willy.

The firmness of the settlement of odd transaction cases at the Ministry of Finance can also improve the image of the Government in the eyes of the community which has recently decreased. We need the integrity of the Ministry of Finance which is trusted to gather sources of development funding," added the legislator from the XI East Java electoral district.

On the other hand, Willy asked the public to be patient and participate in overseeing the odd transaction case at the Ministry of Finance. With the role of the community, he hopes that the case of irregularities in transactions at the Ministry of Finance can be revealed and true facts are found.

People will definitely wait for the end of this polemic. Is it proven that there are odd transactions or is there indeed an error in the data received by public officials. This must be monitored until the end is clear and firm," concluded Willy.
