Trade Minister Zulhas Tanjung For The Success Of Jokowi's Economy: Controlled Inflation, High Growth
JAKARTA - Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) said that various sweet notes made by Indonesia in the economic sector could not be separated from good cooperation from all parties to the leadership figure of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
According to him, the condition of the Indonesian economy during the current government has been able to withstand various pressures, especially from an external (global) perspective. In fact, Indonesia has shown evidence as The Bright Spot' or a bright spot in the midst of many other countries' shocks.
"Our economy grew 5.31 percent (year on year/yoy throughout 2022)," he said on Sunday, April 2.
Not only that, Zulhas also expressed his views regarding the price fluctuation of the needs of the community which tends to remain stable.
"Our inflation is under control," he said.
Zulhas' statement refers to the downward trend in inflation this year. The government itself targets the general inflation rate to return to pre-pandemic levels, which is 3 percent plus minus 1 percent in the second semester of 2023.
Furthermore, the Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) also revealed that Indonesia managed to score achievements in terms of international commerce.
"We have a trade balance surplus of around Rp900 trillion," he said.
According to VOI records, Indonesia managed to score a trade balance surplus of 5.48 billion US dollars in February 2023. This result extends the record for 34 consecutive months since the same results were inscribed in May 2020.
