Bogor Regency Government Welcomes South Sentul-West Karawang Toll Road Construction
BOGOR - The Bogor Regency Government (Pemkab), West Java, welcomes the construction of the Sentul Selatan-West Karawang Toll Road which will be carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (KemenPUPR) starting this year.
"This is one of the national projects that will be implemented in Bogor Regency in 2023," Head of the Bogor Regency Research and Development Development Planning Agency (Bappedalitbang), Suryanto Putra, was reported by ANTARA, Friday, March 24.
Suryanto said the toll road passed through three areas in West Java Province, namely Bogor Regency, Bekasi Regency, and Karawang Regency. Bogor Regency is the area most affected by toll road construction, which is 2,997 square kilometers in area.
Based on data from the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the PUPR Ministry, the Sentul Selatan-West Karawang Toll Road also crosses an area of Bekasi Regency covering an area of 1,274 square kilometers, and Karawang Regency covers an area of 1,753 square kilometers.
The Sentul Selatan-West Karawang Toll Road with a length of 61.5 kilometers is planned to be connected to four existing toll roads, namely the Jagorawi Toll Road and the Bogor Ring Road Toll Road on the south side. Then, the Jakarta-Cikampek and South Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Roads on the north side.

The toll road with an investment cost of IDR 15.376 trillion is expected to become an alternative route. In addition, the existence of this toll road is also expected to be able to unravel traffic and become accessible to support the development of industrial, agricultural, and tourism areas in the three districts.
This is because currently activities in the Sentul-Karawang area are served by non-toll roads, the Jagorawi Toll Road and the Cikampek Toll Road. The level of traffic saturation on non-toll roads as well as Jagorawi Toll Road and Cikampek Toll Road during peak hours is quite severe. This is exacerbated because the three of them are access to the Karawang Industrial Area and are often passed by heavy trucks.
