JAKARTA - The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is exploring cooperation with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank or the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to discuss support for the Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme or Government and Business Entity Cooperation (KPBU) in the development of connectivity infrastructure, water resources, and settlements.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the cooperation plan had been discussed in a bilateral meeting with Senior Advisor to the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank or Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Joachim von Amsberg, and President & CEO of Aliance To End Palstic Waste (AIPW), Jacob Duer, at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
"The PUPR Ministry believes that infrastructure development still provides many investment opportunities that can be collaborated with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)," Minister Basuki said in a written statement, Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Basuki said that infrastructure development in Indonesia is a priority for the Government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and is one of the main sectors to improve the community's economy.

"The limited ability of government funding in infrastructure development encourages the Ministry of PUPR to make breakthroughs in infrastructure financing through investment from various parties, including the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)," he said.
The Ministry of PUPR proposes support for infrastructure development in the field of connectivity including the Jambi-Rengat Toll Road, flyovers for level crossings or safety on highways, and the continuation of the Trans Java Toll Road Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road.
