JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop UKM) will again call Instagram to discuss regulations on imported used clothing products in Indonesia.

According to the plan, the government will call for a higher party than Instagram, the CEO of Meta Asia Pacific.

"We might want to call the CEO who is even higher, because this, right, is a regulatory problem. We have laws, products are illegal, we have asked to take them down, but the answer is like that," said Deputy Assistant for Financing and Investment of SME Deputy for SMEs at the Coordinating Ministry for SMEs, Temmy Satya Permana, after a discussion on media themed 'MSMEs Up Towards Golden Indonesia' which was held by Forwakop at the Coordinating Ministry for Cooperatives and SMEs Building, Jakarta, Friday, November 17.

Temmy did not deny that there are still different perspectives between the government and the platform regarding the rules regarding illegal goods in Indonesia. He said the government wanted the regulations in the country to be recognized and obeyed.

This is because the platform operates and is used by the people of Indonesia.

"Indeed, the perspective is still different, but what is certain is that we want our regulations to be recognized. The users are Indonesian citizens. Of course, please obey our regulations," said Temmy.

Even so, Temmy has not been able to provide certainty about his meeting with the CEO of Instagram.

"I'm just waiting for the minister's order, because the minister wants to meet the CEO of TikTok first, maybe later Meta. Just wait for the playing date," he added.

As previously reported, the Kemenkop UKM has met with Instagram regarding the still finding of user accounts promoting and selling illegal used clothes on Instagram social media.

The promotion and sale of illegal used clothing are still being carried out by Instagram user accounts in the Bandung area, West Java.

Related to this, the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs (Menkop UKM) Teten Masduki assessed that Instagram still has not followed the request from the Kemenkop UKM to reduce (take down) accounts that promote these illegal goods.

Because, in a meeting with the Kemenkop UKM team, Instagram claimed to be just a platform and had no part in doing what the Indonesian government wanted.

"They (the Instagram party) said it was only a platform. Well, in my opinion, this can no longer be like that," said Minister Teten at the Kemenkop UKM Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 25.

In fact, said Teten, Indonesia itself has banned the sale or promotion of illegal goods, either on e-commerce platforms or social media, as well as Instagram.
