Minister Basuki Regarding Stadium Renovations for the U-17 World Cup: Everything Has Been Completed

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said that all stadiums used for holding the U-17 World Cup from November 10, 2023 to December 2, 2023 have been completely renovated.

"The renovation of the U-17 World Cup stadium has been completely completed. In fact, I got a running text that FIFA has appreciated the readiness of the U-17 stadium," said Minister Basuki after being met at the peak of the 2023 World Habitat Day and World Cities Day at the PUPR Ministry Building, Monday, October 30.

He added that all the stadiums for the U-17 World Cup were ready for use. "Everything is ready to be used for the U-17 World Cup," said Basuki.

On the same occasion, the Director General of Human Settlements of the PUPR Ministry, Diana Kusumastuti, expressed her gratitude because the renovation of the entire stadium for the U-17 event could be completed quickly.

"Thank God, everything (the stadium) is ready," he added.

For your information, Indonesia was determined to host the 2023 U-17 World Cup through a joint decision at the FIFA Council session which was held at FIFA Headquarters, Zurich, Switzerland.

According to the plan, the U-17 World Cup will be contested in four cities, namely Jakarta, Solo, Bandung and Surabaya. The U-17 World Cup itself will take place from November 10, to December 2, 2023.

The opening ceremony for the U-17 World Cup will be held at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT) in Surabaya City on November 10.

Later, the stadium will become the "home base" for the Indonesian U-17 national team in the Group A preliminary round.
