Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Leaks that US Hotel Company is Ready to Build Hotel in IKN

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno confirmed that the hotel company group from the United States (US), Marriot Group, will invest in the National Capital (IKN) of the archipelago.

"Yes, it is certain (fix) from the Marriot Group to build 2-3 hotels in IKN," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga after being met at the 2023 US-Indonesia Investment Summit at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Jakarta, Tuesday, October 24.

Sandi said there was potential investment of up to 700 million US dollars from the hotel company.

"What we expect at IKN for hotels is between 500-700 million US dollars," he said.

He added that construction of the hotel would begin in the near future.

"Preparations have now begun, we hope that construction will start soon," concluded Sandi.

As previously reported, the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) said that there were 10 companies that were certain to lay the first stone or groundbreaking in the National Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago, East Kalimantan, on November 1, 2023.

This was stated by IKN Authority Communications Expert Troy Pantouw when met by journalists in Jakarta, Wednesday, October 18.

"On the 1st (November) there was a groundbreaking," said Troy.

When asked further about which companies carried out the groundbreaking, Troy could not reveal more details.

"We want to discuss this with Mr. Jaka (Secretary of OIKN), later we will issue a release for the groundbreaking. Be patient, because leading up to the 1st (November) there is still an MoU that needs to be finalized," he said.
