Minister Basuki Appreciates Athletes' Achievements, Promises To Improve 4 Sports Infrastructures

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono as Chef de Mission (CdM)/Chairman of the 2023 Asian Games Contingent appreciates the achievements of the athletes who have competed. It is known, the Ministry of PUPR will provide infrastructure support for improving Indonesia's sports achievements.

"This appreciation is outside the bonus that will be given by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. As an appreciation, the Ministry of PUPR will also provide infrastructure support for improving Indonesia's sports achievements," Minister Basuki said in a written statement received by VOI, Saturday, October 21.

Minister Basuki said that the sports infrastructure support that had begun was the construction of the Swimming Center at the State University of Semarang.

"Now we also want to try plus a swimming arena at the Jakarta State University so that our athletes can train continuously," he said.

Next, the skateboard arena that has been prepared by the Ministry of PUPR in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. "Then the hoax, actually already in GBK, I also plan and see the field development in Depok," said Basuki.

Finally, said Basuki, his party will also prepare BMX bicycle arenas in Pulomas and Banyuwangi. "I saw firsthand yesterday that the guidance and facilities had to be improved," he said.

In addition, Basuki gave his appreciation to the medal-winning athletes, namely the athletes who competed in the 500-meter (m) women dragon boat with silver medals and 1000-m dragon boat with gold medals. While in Hangzhou, he has also given direct appreciation to the athletes who won medals.

"We from the CdM Team have tried to give the best for the Indonesian Team. We have achieved the best achievements, 7 gold, 11 silver and 18 bronze medals with several world and Asian records broken," he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) Raja Sapta Oktohari expressed his gratitude for the dedication that Minister Basuki had given during his time as Chef de Mission (CdM)/Chairman of the 2023 Asian Games Contingent.

"Many sports facilities will also be built by the Ministry of PUPR. Thank you to President Jokowi and Minister Basuki for paying the best attention to the development of Indonesian sports," he added.
