Pursuing Oil And Gas Lifting Target, Petrochina Plans To Drill 6 Fields In Jabung

JAKARTA - PetroChina International Jabung Ltd. (PCJL) continues to pursue the target of achieving production of 1 million barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 12 billion standard cubic feet per day (BSCFD) of gas in 2030 by exploring aggressively.

PCJL Field Manager Rudy Hermawan said PCJL plans to drill 2 exploration wells, NEB SUN-1 & NEB BASE-3, as part of fulfilling its definite work commitment at WK Jabung in 2023.

PCJL also launched 11 development drilling programs in 6 fields located in the Jabung Working Area this year.

"As a KKKS that is trusted to continue managing Jabung Work Area (WK) during the period 2023-2043, PCJL continues to boost various exploration and development programs in order to increase production in Jabung WK," he said in a statement to VOI, Thursday, October 19.

As for now, seven wells have been taxed, namely WB-D16, NEB-101, SB-D21, NEB-93, Panen-D15, NEB-83 and Gemah-75.

"The SB-D21 well tax on January 22, 2023, received appreciation from SKK Migas as the fastest well tax in 2023," added Rudy.

Overall, this year's drilling program is expected to increase oil and condensate production by 1,122 BOPD and 24 MMSCFD (million standard cubic feet per day) for gas.

In 2022, PCJL will successfully achieve the drilling program target at 14 wells.

In addition, according to Rudy, his party is preparing the 3D & 2D 2023 Seismic Survey for the Jabung WK which will start in the 4th quarter of 2023 and last for 15 months.

"The socialization of Seismic Survey activities in Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency has begun on September 4, 2023," he said.

PCJL Exploration Manager, Hendra Niko said, this year, PCJL will focus on finding new oil and gas resource reserves in Jabung WK.

According to him, with Indonesia's target towards an energy transition, the existence of the Jabung WK managed by PCJL is in line with this target.

"At Jabung WK, 65 percent of the production is gas, this is related to past deposition of hydrocarbon manufacturing materials, which are mostly gas," he said.

PetroChina International Jabung Ltd. has operated a Jabung WK covering an area of 1,643 square kilometers in Jambi Province since 2002, namely after acquiring this WK from the previous operator,tengas Energy.

Since 2006, PCJL has posted stable daily average production of more than 50,000 BOEPD (equivalent barrels of oil per day).

In 2022, PCJL recorded a daily lifting realization of an average of 15,618 BOPD of oil and condensate and 173 MMSCFD of gas.

The two main oil and gas processing facilities in Jabung WK are Betara Gas Plant (BGP) in Betara District, West Tanjung Jabung Regency, and North Geragai Fractionation (NGF) in Geragai District, East Tanjung Jabung Regency.

On February 27, 2023, PCJL officially began the contract extension period as the operator of the Jabung Working Area for the period 2023-2043.
