The Ministry Of Transportation Proposes The Development Of An Integrated Port In ASEAN

JAKARTA - The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) proposed the construction of an integrated port in the 45th ASEAN Maritime Transportation Working Group Meeting or The 45th ASEAN Maritime Transport Working Group (45th MTWG) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

"In this case, Indonesia proposes to take a collaborative and competitive approach to improve coordination between port construction and road access to ports in the ASEAN region," said Secretary of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation Lollan Panjaitan in a statement, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, October 18.

Lollan said that the meeting also stated that Indonesia was currently in the process of drafting the National Port Master Plan. The goal is to increase the role and function of ports in supporting national development, which is expected to be published by the end of 2023.

In addition, he revealed several important things discussed, including the agenda related to the ASEAN Single Shipping Market (ASSM), in which Brunei Darussalam conveyed an analysis of port network performance and port efficiency in ASEAN based on data submitted by ASEAN member countries.

The trial also approved the proposal of Agence Fran raise de Drevelopment (AFD) which is the agency under the French Government to provide full technical support for the Sustainable Ship Waste Management Strategy for ASEAN Project for 2 (two) years in 2023-2025.

Also present at the meeting were leading maritime organizations such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the ASEAN Ports Association (APA), the Federation of ASEAN Shipowners' Associations (FASA), the World Shipping Council (WSC), the Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA), the Partnership for Infrastructure (P4I) Australia, and the ASEAN Secretariat.

The Indonesian delegation is led by the Secretary of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation Lollan Panjaitan, with members namely the Transportation Attache in Kuala Lumpur, the Transportation Attache in Singapore and representatives from the Directorate of Traffic and Sea Transportation, the Directorate of Kenavigasian, the Directorate of Shipship and Marine Affairs, the Secretariat of the Directorate General of Land Transportation, the Directorate of River, Lake and Crossing Transportation (TSDP), the Center for International Partnership and Institutional Facilities (PFKKI), the Moda Transportation and Integration Policy Center and the Indonesia National Shipowners Association (INSA).
