The Recovery Rate For AP 1 Airport Passenger Movement Has Reached 87 Percent

JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura I (AP1) noted that the number of passenger movements of 15 AP1 airports to the third quarter of 2023 has also reached a recovery rate of 87 percent compared to records in the same period in 2019.

AP I has served 51,787,221 passenger movements in the January-September 2023 period. The number of passengers grew by 40 percent compared to records in the same period in 2022 which reached 36,927,156 passenger movements.

AP1 President Director Faik Fahmi said the number of passenger movements in 2023, which is very positive, shows that operational performance at 15 airports is in the direction of traffic conditions before the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Some airports even recorded a higher number of passenger movements than the period before the pandemic, namely Sultan Hasanuddin Airport Makassar and Yogyakarta International Airport," he said in an official statement, written Friday, October 13.

For other airports, said Faik, such as Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport and Surabaya Juanda Airport, the recovery rate for passenger movements was above 85 percent, even SAMS Sepinggan Balikpapan touched 95 percent.

"The high recovery rate at AP1 airports is in line with the analysis from IATA where passenger movement traffic will experience full recovery in 2024," he said.

Faik also said that Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is the airport with the highest number of passenger movements until the third quarter of 2023 with 15,827,953 passengers, which is divided into 7,264,345 passengers on domestic routes and 8,563,608 passengers on international routes.

In second place is Juanda Airport Surabaya with 10,428,194 passengers divided into 8,920,394 passengers on domestic routes and 1,507,800 passengers on international routes.

Meanwhile, in third place, AP1's busiest airport is Sultan Hasanuddin Airport Makassar with 7,894,812 passengers, which is divided into 7,609,771 passengers on domestic routes and 285,041 passengers on international routes.

In addition to experiencing growth in the number of passenger movements, Fauk explained that AP1 also recorded growth in aircraft movements and cargo movements.

For aircraft movements, 15 AP1 airports recorded that they had served 453,195 aircraft movements until the third quarter of 2023, or grew by 14 percent compared to the number of movements in the same period in 2022 which reached 396,161 movements.

"Meanwhile, the recovery rate for aircraft movements in 2023 will reach 87 percent," he said.

Meanwhile, for cargo movements, as many as 349,283 tons of cargo were recorded to have been served by 15 AP1 airports to the third quarter of 2023, or experienced growth of 3 percent compared to cargo movements in the same period in 2022 which reached 339,575 tons.

Faik also said that the movement of AP1 cargo until the third quarter of 2023 had also exceeded the number of cargo movements in the same period in 2019, which grew by 9 percent.

"With this very positive traffic in 2023, of course, it is a very positive signal for the world of aviation in Indonesia in general, and contributes positively to AP1 itself, especially regarding efforts to recover the company's operational and financial performance," he said.
