First Time Trying Jakarta Bandung Fast Train, Jokowi: Comfortable, Doesn't Feel Shaky

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) admitted that he had visited the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) project several times. However, this was the first day I tried this mode of transportation.

The first impression of trying out this mode of transportation, said Jokowi, was that the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train was very comfortable even though it operated at high speed. In fact, he said, there was very minimal shaking.

Jokowi conveyed this after testing the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train from Halim Station to Padalarang Station and continued by taking the feeder to Bandung Station, Wednesday, September 13.

"I have been to the fast train project four times, but this was the first time I tried it. Comfortable, at a speed of 350 km per hour there was no shaking at all. "Both when I sit and when I walk," said Jokowi in an official statement, Wednesday, September 13.

Jokowi hopes that in the future there will be a shift in the use of transportation, from previously using private vehicles, to mass transportation such as the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train.

Apart from that, continued Jokowi, the existence of the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train is expected to contribute to reducing levels of congestion and air pollution.

"We hope that there will be a shift from using private cars to fast trains, to LRT, to MRT, and to Transjakarta, so that congestion on the roads can be reduced, pollution can be reduced. We're heading that way. "Because every year we lose more than IDR 100 trillion per year due to traffic jams in Jabodetabek and Bandung," he said.

Inaugurated in October and is not subsidized

Jokowi targets the inauguration of the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train to be carried out in early October. Meanwhile, regarding fares, Jokowi confirmed that there would be no subsidies for selling fast train tickets.

Furthermore, Jokowi handed over fare calculations to fast train management based on coordination with the Ministry of Transportation.

In line with Jokowi, Budi said he hoped that fast trains could start operating in early October. The public will also be given the opportunity to take a free trial of the fast train.

“The target is to be able to run at the beginning of the month. The operating permit certificate from KCJB is expected to be completed within the next week. "For the construction of the route, everything is 100 percent complete, while for the stations, three of the four stations have been completed," said Budi.

For your information, the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train has four stopping stations, namely Halim Station, Karawang Station, Padalarang Station and Tegalluar Station. Meanwhile, the total length of the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train project route reaches 142.3 km, starting from Halim Station to Tegalluar Station.

The route is divided into 82.7 km of bridges, 42.7 km of embankment, 16.8 km of tunnels and 142.3 km of railway. The construction of all routes has been 100 percent completed.
