IMS GBK Will Be Used For Music Concerts, Minister Of PUPR: Sound System Still Needs To Be Improved

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said that facilities in the Indonesia Arena area or the Indoor Multifunction Stadium (IMS) needed to be improved. What's more, if in the future the IMS is used for concert activities.

"(For the concert) there is still a lack of sound system," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono to reporters in Jakarta, Monday, August 7.

Basuki assessed that when the Chocolate Band appeared at the inauguration of the IMS today, the sound system used was not optimal.

"It's like Ms. Kikan (Brown Band vocalist) earlier, right, didn't come out (maximally) her vocals," he said.

On the same occasion, Director General of Human Settlements Diana Kusumastuti said improvements to the voice system would be followed up immediately.

"(Later) it will be arranged again," he said.

Moreover, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has agreed that this stadium can not only be used for sports competitions, but also for music concerts.

Furthermore, said Basuki, the Indonesian Arena itself is still going through a maintenance period of six months by the implementing contractor.

"I want this message to be repaired, it's not quite right," he added.

For your information, President Jokowi has inaugurated the Indonesia Arena or the Indoor Multifunction Stadium (IMS) in the Gelora Bung Karno area, Jakarta, today.

During the inauguration, President Jokowi was accompanied by a number of ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, such as PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, SOE Minister Erick Thohir, and Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) Sandiaga Uno.

Then, there is the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Arietdjo, Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian, and Head of BKPM/Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, as well as other officials.

In addition, there were also appearances from the Chocolate Band, Wika Salim, and basketball competitions among celebrities.

The development of the Indonesia Arena spent a budget of IDR 639.1 billion with a Multi Years Contract (MYC) for the Fiscal Year (TA) 2021-2023.

The implementing contractor for this project is PT Adhi Karya-PT Nindya Karya-PT Penta (KSO). The project is completed within 18 months of work.
