Inaugurating IMS At GBK, Jokowi Calls The Major Economic Turnover From The Concert

JAKARTA - The Indonesia Arena or Indoor Multifunction Stadium (IMS) located in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Jakarta, was finally inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), today.

Jokowi assessed that the multifunctional stage would be used more for concert activities than for sports tournaments. The reason is, he sees the huge potential for economic turnover from a concert.

"My feelings, really, will have more concerts than sports. Every time there is a concert there must be a circulation of money, economic turnover, both in the upper, middle, and below," said Jokowi in Jakarta, on Monday, August 7.

According to him, the economic turnover of an event, especially concert activities, will provide a very large added value in the future.

"The concert event has a very large economic effect, because that's where the audience spends, the audience spends money, so that when money is rotated, there is an economic turnover," said Jokowi.

In addition, Jokowi continued, IMS itself has met very good standards, so that it can be used for national and international scale activities.

"I think the construction, which costs Rp. 640 billion, has a good standard and after this (hopefully) national and international events can be held at the Indonesia Arena," he said.

For your information, at the inauguration of the IMS, President Jokowi was accompanied by a number of ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, such as PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, SOE Minister Erick Thohir, and Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) Sandiaga Uno.

Then, there is the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Arietdjo, Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian, and Head of BKPM/Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, as well as other officials.

The IMS itself is located in Block 10 with an area of 30,270 m2 belonging to the Ministry of State Secretariat under the management of PPK-GBK in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Senayan, Jakarta. The building itself covers 50,398 m2 and has a audience capacity of 16,523 people.
