JAKARTA - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) and China Huadian Overseas Investment Co. Ltd (CHDOI) are exploring cooperation in developing new and renewable energy businesses.

This collaboration is contained in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the Director of Business Development of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Rafli Yandra and Chinese Vice President Huadian Overseas Investment Co. Ltd (CHDOI) Lu Youan on Saturday 29 July.

"Through cooperation with CHDOI, PTBA as a Member of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding wants to accelerate the development of renewable energy in Indonesia," said Rafli Yandra in a statement to the media, Thursday, August 3.

Rafli explained that this collaboration is one of PTBA's steps to realize the vision of becoming a world-class energy and chemical company that cares about the environment.

"We hope to gain experience in renewable energy development as well as contribute to energy conservation, emission reduction, and sustainable development," added Rafli.

This collaboration in the field of EBT development is not the first time this has happened.

Previously, PTBA had also collaborated with PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk in the development of Solar Power Plants (PLTS) with a capacity of 400 Kilowatt-peak (kWp) on the Jasa Marga Group toll road.

The construction of the Bali-Mandara Toll Road PLTS which was inaugurated on September 21, 2022, is running very well so that it produces positive benefits in the form of energy efficiency and operational costs, and of course it will support Indonesia's G20 Presidency in November 2022, one of which focuses on the issue of energy transition.

PTBA has also built PLTS at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in collaboration with PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero).

The PLTS consists of 720 solar panel systems with photovoltaics with a maximum capacity of 241 kWp and installed at the Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC) Building.

This PLTS has been fully operational since October 1, 2020.
