Regarding PP 26 Of 2023, KKP Will Form A Sea Sand Export Determination Team

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has just issued Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 26 of 2023 concerning Management of Sedimentary Results at Sea.

One of the things that are highlighted in the PP is the permit for sea sand exports.

Responding to this, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) said that licensing for the exploitation and export of sedimentation marine sand would be determined by the study team.

In this case, the KKP will cooperate with WALHI to Green Peace to be part of the study team.

Minister of KKP Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said the study team consisted of several elements, namely the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), as well as academics and environmental activists. The team will decide whether the sea sand to be exported is the result of sedimentation or not.

"The sedimentation can be used, but there are conditions in the PP that it is stated that a study team consisting of ESDM, KLHK, KKP, and even NGOs or green peace will be formed. I will ask all of them to give opinions in the regulations that are being prepared," Trenggono said at a press conference at the KKP Building, Wednesday, May 31.

He also said that apart from pocketing the blessing of the study team, the dredging of the sand should not be arbitrary.

Because, according to Trenggono, the dredging process can only be done using special technology.

According to Trenggono, sedimentation-based marine sand can be used for domestic purposes. If domestic interests have been met, then the sand can be exported, including to Singapore.

"This sedimentation was made with the aim of fulfilling domestic reclamation. If you want to take it out, yes, go ahead, but based on the results of the study team (KLHK, ESDM, KKP, WALHI, Green Peace). If they say they can, yes, I can allow it. If not, yes, no, you can't," he said.

"The treatment is the same, in the country if he uses sedimentation sand he has to pay PNBP. Likewise exports, he must also be subject to higher PNBP and PNBP," added Trenggono.

Later, the results of the PNBP will be used for development in the marine sector.
