JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) signed a new and renewable energy (EBT) development cooperation agreement with construction or engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company China Communications Construction Dredging Co., Ltd (CCCC) in Beijing, Sunday, May 21.

The agreement is aimed at accelerating the development of EBT generators as well as agreeing on cooperation in the development of the energy transition in Indonesia.

PLN Main Director Darmawan Prasodjo during a site visit to the company as quoted from a written statement Monday, May 22 explained, currently PLN is accelerating the development of EBT generators such as hydroelectric power plants (PLTA), solar power plants (PLTS), wind power plants (PLTB), and pumped storage power plants in Indonesia.

PLN hopes that the cooperation with the CCCC can accelerate the energy transition process from fossil energy to EBT in order to achieve the net zero emission (NZE) target in 2060.

"The cooperation that has been established between PLN and CCCC is expected to accelerate the construction of EBT generators. By doing so, Indonesia will further accelerate the energy transition process," Darmawan said, as quoted by Antara.

According to him, with a wealth of experience owned by CCCC, PLN can absorb knowledge from the company and discuss and collaborate in the construction of EBT infrastructure, liquid natural gas (LNG), and terminals for gasification.

CCCC is a company that has been involved in many major projects in China and abroad.

Some of his biggest projects include the construction of the Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the world's largest port located in Shanghai, as well as the construction of the Three Gorges Dam in China.
