ID FOOD And PTPN III Hold MoU Livestock Cooperation With Qatar Company

Holding BUMN Food ID FOOD and Holding BUMN Plantation PTPN III signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the dairy industry including investment, production, processing and marketing of milk with a company from Qatar, Baladna Food Industries.

The signing of the MoU was carried out on Thursday 11 May by President Director of Career Harry Warganegara, General Director of PT Perkebunan Nusantara III Doni P Gandamihardja and CEO of Baladna Food Industries WLL Malcolm Jordan, and witnessed by SOE Minister Erick Thohir and ID FOOD President Director Frans Marganda Tambunan.

"This MoU is exploring, identifying and preparing joint studies to collaborate in the dairy industry including investment, production, processing and marketing of milk with a company from Qatar, Baladna Food Industries. It is hoped that this collaboration can strengthen bilateral economic relations between the two countries, especially in supporting economic recovery," said Frans in a written statement, Monday, May 15.

The signing of the MoU provides an important meaning for Indonesia-Qatar bilateral relations, in addition to being able to support ID FOOD and its subsidiary PT Berdikari to continue to develop into competent SOEs in the field of livestock and meet the needs of milk in Indonesia. PTPN III is included in the provision of land.

"This is different from last year between this Qatar company and Berdikari and without involving PTPN III," explained Frans.

For information, currently 80 percent of the fulfillment of milk needs in Indonesia still comes from imports. Cooperation offers from Qatar have the potential to support local breeders in increasing domestic milk production.

As a follow-up, the two companies agreed to immediately discuss the technical implementation of the agreement so that cooperation between the two can be carried out in the near future.
