JAKARTA - Acceleration of industrial implementation 4.0 in Indonesia is carried out through various efforts to increase the competitiveness of the national manufacturing industry and realize Indonesia's economic power to be ranked in the top 10 in the world by 2030.

This target is contained in the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap that was launched by Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in 2018.

The improvement in the quality of human resources (HR) is one of the 10 Priority Strategies for Making Indonesia 4.0. To make it happen, the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) continues to encourage the improvement of the quality of industrial human resources, such as through the development of education and vocational training.

"One of the vocational education programs run by the Ministry of Industry is through 22 units of vocational education, with various superior programs and strong cooperation with stakeholders," said Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry Masrokhan in Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 9.

SMK-SMTI Makassar is one of the high schools belonging to the Ministry of Industry that participated in the From East to be the Best Young Scientist program. The program aims to produce 1,000 young researchers from eastern Nusantara, starting from an online scientific workshop with outputs in the form of the best ideas from students in Indonesia.

"The purpose of implementing this program is to increase the mindset of research, creativity and innovation to create gene Z researchers from eastern Indonesia and strengthen networks between students in innovation and research programs," said Masrokhan.

The implementation of the project, which comes from the best idea, will get funding accompanied by training and assistance. The last phase of this activity is an offline workshop in seven cities and the best idea chosen will be to hold an exhibition at the offline workshop.

The seven cities are potential cities located in the provinces of East Java and South Sulawesi, namely Lamongan, Jember, Surabaya, Pasuruan, Bangkalan, Malang, and Makassar.

"The first workshop tour was successful at SMK-SMTI Makassar on May 6 with the activities of introducing, sharing, experiments, making research, and presentations," he said.

The program, which was organized by the Indonesian Research Research Foundation with the US Consulate General Surabaya and the Indonesian Science Hunter, collaborated with the Ministry of Industry's BPSDMI through SMK-SMTI Makassar.

Science Hunter Indonesia (SHI) is a local startup as an interactive and innovative platform for students to learn about scientific research and write scientific works. As of June 2021, SHI has reached 83 percent of all provinces and more than 500 schools and campuses throughout Indonesia.

The exclusion of research assistance is 902 innovation research works, with 362 works of which have won awards at the national and international levels.
