Good News, WhatsApp Adds New Security Layers, Users Can Log In To Accounts By Email

JAKARTA - WhatsApp has again added a layer of security by allowing users to use email addresses for account verification purposes.

It is known that currently, users who want to log into their WhatsApp account must use a phone number. If they lose that number, it means that users are at risk of not being able to access their account.

To prevent this from happening, the Meta-owned messaging service finally applied an email address for account verification.

First reported by WABetaInfo, this feature is optional and users will not create an account with an email login instead of a phone number.

Instead, email addresses may serve as security features to help protect WhatsApp accounts from hacking and takeover.

This feature is also quite useful if the user loses a cellphone or is stolen, which can cause the problem of recovering a WhatsApp account with a phone number.

Thieves may not be interested in WhatsApp accounts. However, users cannot immediately return to their WhatsApp because they need a phone number.

With the new email security option, users can access the WhatsApp account again with the new feature faster.

Another layer of security has also been implemented by WhatsApp, where when the user determines the email address, they will be asked to enter a PIN for the account. If the user cannot remember the PIN, they can use the linked email address to reset.

The feature, which has been introduced since last April, includes an automatic security code that will improve the end-to-end security verification process.
