JAKARTA - As a follow-up to the declaration of the G20 leader in Bali, Pulse Lab Jakarta has officially transformed into a regional innovation center with a new entity, United Nations Global Pulse Asia Pacific, to encourage innovation and sustainable development in Asia Pacific.
Launched in 2012 as a joint data innovation facility for the United Nations (UN), through Global Pulse and Government of Indonesia (via the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas), Pulse Lab Jakarta has evolved for years from a big data innovation laboratory to an analytic partnership accelerator.
"This transformation is a tangible form of effective bilateral and multilateral cooperation to build a stronger data ecosystem and signifies a great opportunity for the future of the Asia Pacific region," said Taufik Hanafi, Executive Secretary of the Ministry of National Development Planning of the Republic of Indonesia in a statement received in Jakarta.
Along with the development of technology that continues to grow rapidly, there is a greater demand to develop and implement innovative solutions that are better able to answer the challenges of the modern world.
The need for this innovation is strengthened by the COVID-19 pandemic, where data innovation and digital transformation have proven to be the key for the government and society, especially in dealing with post-pandemic recovery.
This new era of collaboration and innovation in the Asia Pacific region is an exciting opportunity for countries in the southern hemisphere to collaborate, learn and grow together.
