JAKARTA - The Indonesian team will rely on Alwi Farhan and Muhammad Reza Al Fajri when they play the 2023 Asian Junior Badminton Championship (BAJC). The two Indonesian men's singles will be the focus because they are considered to have the same abilities as senior players.
Head of PBSI's Development and Achievement Division, Rionny Mainaky, said that the presence of Reza and Alwi could motivate teammates to bring the best results from BAJC 2023.
"They have competed at the senior level, they can make achievements, have won. I hope they can strengthen the national team and become the team's motivator to win," said Rionny, as reported by Antara.
The BAJC 2023 event was originally held at the Amonggrogo GOR, Yogyakarta City, on 7-16 July, by playing two tournament formats, namely mixed teams such as the Sudirman Cup and individual numbers.
However, the mixed team competition will start on July 5 and end on July 11. With the remaining two days of preparation, Rionny is optimistic that his team can perform prime in Yogyakarta.
"In the past two days, their condition has been really good, I control them every day. Until now, it has been maximized, from physical, technical, everything has been prepared properly by the coach," said Rionny.
"I report that the children are currently preparing, there are two days. I guarantee they can take good care of their condition and go to Jogja," he continued.
The BAJC 2023 event will be attended by 15 countries consisting of Indonesia as the host, Bangladesh, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, United Arab Emirates, and Srilanka.
Especially for the participating countries, which were said to have not participated in mixed team competitions and only played individual numbers.
