The Indonesian badminton team left for Cambodia to take part in the 2023/PBSI SEA Games

JAKARTA The Indonesian badminton team left for the 2023 Cambodian SEA Games to coincide with the special day of the 72nd anniversary of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).

The Indonesian badminton team departed for Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Friday, May 5 morning. This date coincides with the anniversary of the Indonesian badminton parent.

Timm Manager Eddy Prayitno said that the spirit of PBSI's 72nd anniversary was a motivational injection for athletes to make Indonesia proud in the two-year event.

"We ask for prayers and support from the Indonesian people so that this team will be given smoothness and health from start to finish and be able to give the best performance for the pride of all of us," said Eddy.

Unfortunately, Indonesia departed without the best strength in the men's team. That's because the men's singles Shesar Hiren Rhustavito suffered a left calf injury in the last training session on Thursday.

Head of Development and Achievement Division Rionny Mainaky said that without Shesar being strengthened, she would automatically reduce the team's strength. However, that does not mean that the best results cannot be achieved.

"Although Vito didn't strengthen the team, I'm sure the other three men's singles will be able to talk much. Chico (Aura Dwi Wardoyo), Christian (Adinata) and Alwi (Farhan) are in good form. Even in practice, okay," said Rionny.

The 2023 SEA Games Cambodia will start today, Friday, May 5, 2023, until May 17. The badminton sport began competing on May 8-16 at the Morodok Techo Badminton Hall.
