The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur Regency, West Java, reported that the number of houses damaged by hydrometeorological disasters in South Cianjur increased to 3,098 units, which affected 1,309 families or around 4,061 people who were forced to evacuate.
The Head of BPBD Cianjur, Asep Kusmana Wijaya, explained that on Sunday, December 15, 2024, the latest data shows the addition of the number of refugees spread across 14 sub-districts, along with the high rainfall and widespread ground movement.

BPBD also noted that 3,098 housing units were damaged by disasters, including floods, landslides, and ground movement. In detail, 701 houses were heavily damaged, 835 houses were moderately damaged, and 1,562 houses were slightly damaged.
Until now, the Cianjur Housing and Settlement Areas Service (Disperkim) is still collecting data on houses affected by the disaster, so it is possible that the number of damaged houses will continue to grow in several sub-districts.
"This data collection is carried out in the context of providing stimulant assistance from the central government, which will be verified first before being submitted through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB)," added Asep Kusmana.
