President Jokowi Welcomes The Resumption Of Chinese-US Communication

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo welcomed the resumption of communication between China and the United States in the midst of relations between the two countries which had heated up recently.

This was conveyed by President Widodo in his bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Chengdu, China, as conveyed by Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

"He (President Jokowi) welcomes the resumption of communication between the RRT and the United States," said Foreign Minister Retno when explaining the points of discussion between the two leaders regarding regional and global issues reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 27.

Foreign Minister Retno said that on that occasion President Joko Widodo emphasized that rivalry between major powers (major powers) must be managed, so as not to cause conflicts that harm the region.

In addition, President Widodo also emphasized that all countries must maintain the peace of stability and prosperity of the region related to the Indo-Pacific. Jokowi also welcomed the completion of the guidelines for accelerating the coordination of the code of conduct in the South China Sea.

Meanwhile, regarding ASEAN, Joko Widodo asked for RRT support for the concrete implementation of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific, including the participation of SOEs and the private sector of the RRT in the ASEAN Indo-Pacific Forum which will be held in September 2023 in Jakarta.

"Mr. President also conveyed that the RRT can provide support for the successful implementation of the East Asia Summit which will be carried out in September," he said. "In addition, the President also invited the RRT to work together to fight for the interests of developing countries in the field of sustainable tropical forest and climate action and invite the participation of the RRT in the 10th World Water Forum in Bali on May 18 to 24, 2024," he explained.

Secara keseluruhan pertemuan bilateral antara Presiden Widodo dengan Presiden Xi menghasilkan 8 kesepakatan di berbagai sektor, yang ditandatangani para menteri terkait di hadapan kedua pemimpin.Pada kunjungan hari kedua di Tiongkok, Jumat (28/7), Jokowi dijadwalkan melakukan beberapa pertemuan bisnis dengan berbagai investor Tiongkok.Jokowi juga akan menghadiri pembukaan FISU World University Games 2023, yang merupakan ajang olahraga musim panas yang diikuti mahasiswa dari berbagai negara, untuk menyapa dan memberikan semangat bagi kontingen Indonesia.
