Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo met with the Thai Ambassador to Indonesia Prapan Disyatat, at the Puri Gedeh Office House, Monday, July 24. The two discussed the potential for cooperation and investment in the fields of culture, agriculture, green energy to carbon credit, in Central Java.

"I am grateful that the Thai Ambassador has visited. We are talking about the cooperation between the two countries, of course my role as Governor, whatever the potential we can cooperate with," said Ganjar after receiving the Thai Ambassador.

According to Ganjar, Indonesia and Thailand have many similarities. One of them is both the country that founded ASEAN. Therefore, in the one hour chat, Ganjar Pranowo and Prapan Disyat also discussed cooperation at the level of the Southeast Asian region.

"Earlier we talked about cooperation at the regional level. Is it a food story, technology, green energy, and so on. Including environmental issues and carbon credit that we can work on and welcome," he said.

Furthermore, food needs and agricultural independence are very important, both for Central Java, Indonesia, and Thailand. Because the challenges faced today are climate change which of course has an effect on agricultural production.

"Indonesia-Thailand cooperation needs to provide food for each country or supply. Thailand has a pretty good experience and we agreed to increase agricultural cooperation," said Ganjar Pranowo.

The potential for cooperation and the second investment is related to green energy. According to Ganjar, green energy is currently starting to be developed, both in Central Java itself and Indonesia more widely. Even Thailand has also started to use environmentally friendly clean energy.

"Second, how can we encourage green energy because it is important," he said.

The next potential that Ganjar Pranowo wants to work on with the Thai government is related to tourism and religious tourism. It is known that the two countries have quite good tourism and tourist visits. However, there is one tourist destination that needs to be done together, namely about religious tourism because Thailand is one of the countries with the largest Buddhists.

"I'm also a proposal for tourism, the tourism in Thailand is also quite good. Yesterday I met the bhiksu and thebanks they wanted for some of those events, many Buddhists from Thailand had the potential to be able to attend Borobudur," he said.

Borobudur as a cultural and religious site becomes a common force. Moreover, in one year there were at least six Buddhist religious events. For this reason, Ganjar sees the potential for cooperation in organizing religious events together between the Central Java Provincial Government, the Government of Indonesia, and the Government of Thailand.

"If necessary, we will cooperate in organizing religious events together and so far every Vesak has many residents from Thailand who come to Borobudur."

"In my opinion, we need to develop this potential. Furthermore, of course later from our staff we will follow up on the existing potentials so that we can do well," he said.

On that occasion, Ganjar also conveyed steps so that Central Java and Indonesia would become investment-friendly places. The first thing to note in this case is related to convenience. This convenience can be interpreted as no extortion.

"Second, law enforcement. So, some investments that need attention from the provincial government will be followed up, so we ask residents in Indonesia, in Central Java, if there is investment, don't be disturbed."

"If you want to talk, talk to the government. Moreover, we must respect foreign investment. In the country alone, it should not be disturbed," he said.

The Thai Ambassador, Prapan Disyat, said his experience coming to Central Java was quite memorable. This is the first time he has come to Central Java since serving as ambassador. He was impressed with the friendly and clean service from Ahmad Yani International Airport to Puri Gedeh's official residence.

"The first time I went to Semarang. From the airport to here, it was clean. Earlier we discussed a project of cooperation regarding agriculture and clean energy," he said.

Prapan said that so far Thailand has also observed agricultural developments in Indonesia. In Thailand, there is currently progress for agricultural technology, so they really want to help and work together in this field.

"We see that Indonesia is quite successful in tourism. Indonesia is very extraordinary for tourist attractions. I hope there will be cooperation for that," he said after meeting Ganjar Pranowo.
