BEKASI - The Bekasi Regency Government, West Java has prepared a Light Rail Transit (LRT) feeder transportation to accommodate people who use public transportation services to reach a number of areas in the area.

"The Bekasi Regency Government is very ready to support the creation of integrated public transportation facilities in Bekasi Regency," said Bekasi Regent Dani Ramdan as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 21.

This was conveyed by Dani after attending the launch of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service program as an LRT feeder transport with West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil and Bogor Mayor Bima Arya at the Cidangdiang Bus Stop, Central Bogor, Bogor City.

He said the launch of the LRT mode of transportation mode was part of the development of a national strategic project in the context of building urban mass public transportation in the Jabodebek area.

According to him, the LRT which will soon operate will reach the Jabodebek corridor, including Bekasi Regency, although it has only just arrived in Jatimulya Village, South Tambun District, which in fact is a city border area with districts.

His party plans to provide feeder modes for LRT passengers who will continue their road trips to the Tambun, Cibitung, and Cikarang areas to make it easier for the community.

Dani stated that this mode of feeder transportation is believed to be able to support regional progress through optimizing the needs and ease of community mobilization so that they can enjoy integrated public facilities between modes.

In addition to supporting the ease of mobilizing LRT passengers, this mode of feeder transportation will also be used to reach high-speed train passengers from and to stations located on the border of Bekasi Regency with Karawang Regency.

"For high-speed trains, one of the stations is on the Bekasi-Karawang border, precisely in the Deltamas area. The feeder must also be prepared. So the coverage of this high-speed train can be to other sub-district areas. Now the challenge is to prepare feeders at the LRT which will operate this year," he said.

He targets the development of this integrated transportation facility to be tested in August this year before fully operational by the end of 2023.

He also hopes that the public can use this transportation service as a substitute for the use of private vehicles so as to reduce the volume of traffic density in the area.

"People's mobility from Bekasi to Jakarta cumulatively reaches hundreds of thousands of people per day. They move either from Bekasi who work in Jakarta or vice versa. So far, they still rely on private vehicles so that they have an impact on congestion. If they can move to public transportation, it will certainly reduce the burden of traffic and I am sure the people of Bekasi Regency are ready for this new behavior and culture," he said. (KR-PRA).
