JAKARTA - The Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, emphasized the importance of accommodating the development of information technology in education in Indonesia. Digital education programs are a priority that must be prepared at this time.
This statement was made by Ganjar at the Young On Top National Conference (YOTNC) 2023 which was attended by thousands of young people at The Kasablanka Mall Jakarta, on Saturday 15 July. Ganjar is committed to providing platforms, opportunities, and support for the younger generation in facing the current digital advances.
"One aspect that needs to be considered is education. I believe it is time for us to design a special curriculum in digital education in Indonesia," he said.
The presence of this special curriculum is considered important because of the high need for space for young people to develop their talents and interests in the digital field. However, the existing supporting facilities are still very limited. As a result, children today must seek knowledge independently.
Ganjar Pranowo imagines that if digital education is implemented seriously, children who are interested in coding, graphic design, photography, videography, content creators, and others can develop their potential. They can study in schools that support and hone their talents and interests.
"Universities are also included. So far, the Public Basic Lectures (MKDU) that must be taken by students are only limited to religious lessons, Pancasila education, and Indonesian. In my opinion, it is important to add digital education in this MKDU," he added.
Not only focusing on digital education, supporting infrastructure is also a priority. Internet access must be disseminated to the outskirts of Indonesia.
"We want to make sure that young people in remote areas also have the opportunity to progress and develop. I believe that they have great creativity and innovation and must be optimized," he stressed.
