Muna Regent Becomes Suspect Of Corruption At KPK, Southeast Sulawesi Governor: Leave It To Law Enforcement

The Governor of Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) Ali Mazi stated that he had fully surrendered the alleged bribery case that ensnared the Regent of Muna La Ode Muhammad Rusman Emba to the law enforcement officers of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"Yes, we will leave it to law enforcement," said Governor Ali Mazi when asked for a response regarding the appointment of Muna La Ode Regent Muhammad Rusman Emba as a suspect at the KPK as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 13.

Governor Ali Mazi admitted that he could not provide much comment regarding the determination of the Regent of Muna as a suspect on suspicion of bribery in the management of the National Economic Recovery (PEN) loan fund in the Muna Regency area at the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2021-2022.

"We can't comment on anything, because we are the government," said Ali Mazi.

Even so, he asked all regents/mayors in the area to carry out their duties and responsibilities as leaders in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations so as not to get caught in a corruption case.

According to him, carrying out duties and obligations in accordance with applicable laws and regulations as a form of vigilance from violations that can ensnare corruption cases.

"We must always be vigilant. Carry out all provisions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. So, if we are on the road, we will carry it out, God willing, safe," concluded Ali Mazi.

The KPK has named four new suspects in the bribery in the management of the National Economic Recovery (PEN) loan fund for the Muna Regency area at the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2021-2022.

Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said that his party had not been able to announce who the suspects were, but he gave instructions that one of the suspects served as the relevant regional head, namely Muna La Ode Regent Muhammad Rusman Emba.

"There are also parties who are named as suspects because this is already in the investigation process, including regional heads in the district as well as private parties. There are about four people named as suspects," said Ali.

The KPK also proposed prevention of the Regent of Muna La Ode Muhammad Rusman Emba not to travel abroad for the next six months.

This step was taken by the KPK regarding the start of the investigation into the alleged bribery case in the management of the National Economic Recovery (PEN) loan fund in Muna Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, at the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2021-2022.

"The parties prevented are one private party and one regional head. This is to prevent this from valid for the next six months until around January 2024," said Ali.

Ali said the implementation of prevention of the two people had been coordinated with the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
