JAKARTA The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) technology as a new breakthrough in the digital era was used by the South Jakarta Administrative City Transportation Agency (Sudinhub Jaksel) as a solution to solve congestion on roads.
Head of the Traffic Section of the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-dept. Prisno also believes that AI technology can be a solution to reduce congestion through digital systems.
"We have an Intelligent Transport System (ITS) Traffic Light program based on AI where traffic lights can calculate the number of vehicles themselves," said Prisno Jogiara, quoting Antara, Wednesday, June 5.
Jogi explained how this artificial intelligence system works, namely being able to calculate the number of vehicles to arrange the queue for themselves.
He explained that when there is a density of vehicles at one of the intersections, the traffic light there will bring out a green color faster to unravel congestion.
So that officers no longer need to manually or use loudspeakers on the Area Traffic Control System (ATCS) to regulate traffic, but the system of the technology can work alone.
"So later we will no longer need to scream at ATCS, the system immediately works alone because it already uses AI," he explained.
Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said artificial intelligence technology is currently installed at 20 crossroads and has succeeded in reducing congestion by 20 percent.

As for the selection of locations installed with AI technology, Heru said, taking into account the congestion conditions and traffic congestion that occurred.
Two locations in South Jakarta that already use AI artificial intelligence technology include Jalan Gatot Subroto-Jalan Rasuna Said (Kuningan) and Jalan Gatot Subroto-Jalan Supomo (Pancoran).
