JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) targets the repair of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) to be completed in three months in order to support the U-17 World Cup event.
"For the renovation plan, we have started today, the time of three months is not long. We will start planning from now on for the work plan, then we hope that the JIS renovation can be completed in three months and at the time JIS will be assessed by FIFA whether it is feasible or not for the U-17 World Cup event," said PUPR Ministry Spokesperson Endra S Atmawidjadja reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 4.
JIS after the renovation will be checked by the Building Safety Committee (KKBG). He also said that basically JIS needs to be improved in several aspects, especially grass, access, parking.

"We have a FIFA standard Stadium benchmark at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) and I think we also see input from experts who have been helping us in preparing stadium standards for international events, such as the U-20 World Cup," he said.
However, Endra said that all decisions related to determining which JIS or stadiums would be the location of the match and training for the U-17 World Cup were ultimately determined by FIFA.
"We will meet the standards of FIFA which we did yesterday for the U-20 World Cup. We only offer stadiums and later which stadium will be selected by FIFA, only FIFA will decide. We will try JIS in these three months to be the same standard as the stadiums that we will propose to FIFA," he said.
