JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that there was an investigation into alleged corruption related to mining business permits at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

This was conveyed by KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri. This suspicion is the second case after the KPK investigated the manipulation of performance allowances (tukin) which ensnared 10 suspects.

"KPK wants to convey that it has indeed conducted an investigation related to licensing, IUP," Firli told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, June 15.

He did not elaborate on the investigation. However, Firli ensured that the team would continue to search for evidence.

"In time we will convey the results," he said.

Apart from that, Firli also denied that there was a leak in the investigation documents for the case which prompted him to be summoned by the KPK Supervisory Board. The allegations were reported by the former KPK Investigation Director Brigadier General Endar Priantoro.

"I have been a policeman for 38 years. I have never destroyed my career," he said.

"So whatever people say, I make sure I have never done that and I have never given any documents to anyone," Firli concluded.
