JAKARTA - The Ciplak Market where vegetables and basic necessities are sold in the Jatinegara area, East Jakarta, is starting to not be friendly to women and children.

Because cases of sexual harassment and verbal violence happened to a woman and her child who were shopping at Ciplak Market, Cipinang Besar Selatan Village, Jatinegara District, Tuesday, May 30.

"I didn't expect, definitely not a safe place (Ciplak Market) for women, especially children," said N, the parent of M (10), a victim of sexual harassment against VOI, Wednesday, May 31.

Currently, M's condition, the victim of harassment is still traumatized by the incident of sexual harassment.

"My son was silent, but I raised his heart because he dared to testify (the sexual harassment incident that happened to the victim)," he said.

N said that although the perpetrators were secured at the market security post, the perpetrators were released after being mediated by the security forces.

"Had mediated at the market security post but the perpetrators were released," he said.

Previously, it was reported that M (10), a 4th grade elementary school (SD) student, became a victim of sexual harassment at Ciplak Market, Jalan Pancawarga 1, South Cipinang Besar Village, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta, Tuesday, May 30, afternoon. The incident occurred at around 12.30 WIB.

From N's statement, the victim's parents, the incident began when he and his little daughter were shopping at Ciplak Market. After the victim came home from school, the victim joined his mother to shop.

According to N, due to the narrow access road to shop at a narrow market, N's position was in front of his daughter about 2 meters away. Then when his daughter passed a middle-aged man (the perpetrator), the perpetrator immediately grabbed his daughter's butt several times.
