"When compared to the same period the previous year, the divorce rate in the first quarter of 2023 increased by 51 cases," said Deputy Registrar of Law at the Class 1A Religious Court Ambon Rusna Styastuti in Ambon, Saturday.

He said that the Ambon City Class 1A Religious Court during the first quarter of 2022 recorded 114 divorce cases.

The number of divorce cases handled by the Ambon City Class 1A Religious Court throughout 2022, according to him, a total of 343 cases.

In cases handled by religious courts during the first quarter of 2023, he said, the cause of divorce was mostly constant disputes and quarrels (94 cases) and one of the parties left (25 cases).

Other divorce cases handled by religious courts during that period, according to him, were triggered by madat and drunken habits and domestic violence.

"This also happened because of many other factors, ranging from economic factors to the presence of other ideal men and other ideal women," he said.
