TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono expressed his deep condolences for the death of TNI Soldiers on behalf of Pratu F, one of the personnel from the Battalion R 321/GT Task Force.
Pratu F was the fifth victim to be killed by an attack by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Mugi-man, Nduga, Papua, on Saturday, April 15.
"The body of Pratu F was found by the Joint Team, which since the shooting incident continued to search and trace the scene of the shooting by the KKB," Yudo said in a written statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, April 23.
The body of the late Pratu F was immediately evacuated to Timika, and then taken to the local hospital for burial. Furthermore, the body of the deceased will be returned to his hometown in Magelang, Central Java.
"The plan is that tomorrow, Monday the bodies will be flown to their hometowns in Magelang," said Yudo.
Praru F died while carrying out search and rescue operations for Susi Air pilot Phillip Mehrtens, who has been held hostage by an armed criminal group (KKB) since February 2023.
"The deceased died as Kusuma Bangsa. May God Almighty accept all his deeds of worship and be placed in a proper place by His side," said Yudo.
Previously, four TNI soldiers were declared dead in the operation. The four soldiers who died were Pratu Miftahul Arifin, Pratu Ibrahim, Pratu Kurniawan, and Prada Sukra.
They are members of 36 soldiers who are tasked with combing the Mugi-man area, Nduga, Papua. The four bodies of the soldiers who died were evacuated to Timika on Wednesday (19/4) night and have been handed over to their respective families.
After the incident, TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono announced combat alerts in several areas in Papua which were considered prone to terror and KKB attacks.
