Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri is rumored to be announcing the name Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate (candidate) to be promoted by his party in the 2024 presidential election.

The announcement will be made online from Batu Tulis, Bogor, West Java, today, Friday, April 21.

Based on information circulating, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will also come to the announcement of the presidential candidate.

With Jokowi's potential presence, it further strengthens the political behavior of the president, who has often mentioned Ganjar as one of the successors to the state leadership relay.

On several occasions, Jokowi asked the public to choose a white-haired figure in the 2024 presidential election.

Jokowi said that people must be extra careful in choosing presidential candidates in the upcoming 2024 General Election and suggesting that the chosen person be the one who thinks about his people.

This was conveyed by Jokowi in front of thousands of volunteers at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK), on Saturday, November 26, 2022. He said that one of the figures who thought about the people could be seen from his appearance.

"From the appearance, a lot of wrinkles because I think about the people, there are all white hair, there is that. If the face is clung and there are no wrinkles on the face, be careful. Look at the hair, if it's white, all of this thinks about the people," he said.

A number of politicians and political observers at that time immediately linked a white-haired figure with the Governor of Central Java (Ganjar Pranowo).

Since then, Ganjar's name has continued to decorate the electability survey of figures in the 2024 presidential election, even until now there are three names in the presidential candidate survey institute, competing with Prabowo Subianto and Anies Baswedan.

In fact, Ganjar had previously been summoned by the PDIP Honorary Council because he was deemed to have violated instructions related to political communication for the 2024 presidential election.

This is related to Ganjar who stated his readiness to run for president, on October 18, 2022. Ganjar explained that all party members must be ready if they are promoted as president.

PDIP also emphasized that the determination of the party's internal presidential candidate is entirely under Megawati's authority as general chairman.
