Head of the Disaster Management Division of the South Sumatra Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Ansori, in Palembang, Sunday, said the impact of the natural disaster occurred along with heavy rains in the local area on Sunday this morning.

Based on the checking of the Musi Banyuasin BPBD rapid reaction team, it was known that the 17 damaged houses were in Hamlet 3 of Tanjung Agung Timur Village, Lais.

Where, four houses were heavily damaged and 12 houses and a mosque facility suffered minor damage by a tornado accompanied by rain.

"It happened at around 04.30 WIB or moments after the residents carried out the sahur," he said.

He said the disaster situation due to rain was also experienced by residents of Keban II Village, Sanga Desa District, Musi Banyuasin.

In Keban II Village, which is on the banks of the Musi River, landslides occur until the soil surface collapses to a depth of three meters at around 05.00 WIB.

BPBD noted that there were as many as 16 heads of families whose houses were damaged and more than 10 heads of families whose houses were threatened with collapse due to landslides.
