JAKARTA - Singer Jordan Susanto tries to describe the metaphor of an unhealthy relationship aka toxic and manipulative in a new single titled Cherry, which he played on the Java Jazz Festival stage 2023. Launching Antara, Wednesday, Jordan said the title Cherry was chosen because she was interested in writing the title of a song by a woman's name. "I'm always interested in writing a song whose title is the name of a woman. Like Layla (Derek & The Dominoes / Erickatur), Valerie (Amy Winehouse / The Zutons), or Bundy (Barry Manilow). Incidentally, one of my friends is really good if sung," Jordan explained. The story of the song, Jordan said, is just an essay. "If it's associated with a taste, this song is like Cherry's taste, so it fits really well," he added. Cherry tells from the perspective of a male protagonist, where she is very captivated by a woman (Cherry), while they are staycation in a hotel room. However, a short performing sweet moment even becomes too long and the protagonist begins to feel uncomfortable because Cherry always convince the protagonist to stay in his place. The protagonist is always a metaphor of the manipulative and toxic relationship.Cherry was written by Jordan Susanto himself and produced by Taufan Wirzon.
