Guns N 'Roses Bassist, Duff McKagan, respects the Mental Health Awareness Month with the premiere of This Is The Song.
The EP contains three new songs that have been available since last Wednesday on all music streaming services. Produced by longtime collaborator Martin Feveyear (Mark Lanegan, Brandi Carlile).
The EP title track, accompanied by an official companion video, has also aired on YouTube.
"This Is The Song was written amid a panic attack," McKagan said in a statement about the EP.
"I can't breathe and can't see clearly, and lately, fortunately I found my acoustic guitar as a shelter. If I just hold the guitar, play chord, and contain the melody, I can start climbing my way out of that hole."
"For those of you who have never experienced anything like this, consider yourself blessed. For those of you who recognize what I'm talking about: YOU'RE NOT alone!"
McKagan's first solo music in nearly four years, This Is The Song follows their critically recognized solo album, Tenderness, which was released four years ago.
The EP is named after Loudwire as one of the 50 Best Rock Albums of the year and was praised by Rolling Stone with three and a half stars (of the four) as an "album full of beauty and heart... It's conscience music, heavy songs with a light touch."
