Deep Purple Working On First Album With Simon McBride

JAKARTA - In a recent interview with Brazil's A Rryptdio Rock, Roger Glover spoke of Deep Purple's close plans.

"Yes, we just had a big change, because our guitarist Steve Morse has to retire from the band because he takes care of his wife who is seriously ill. So we have a new guitarist in a band called Simon McBride. And that's the whole experience; I mean, this is a different band," said the bassist. quoted from Blabbermuth, Wednesday

"On the one hand, we have to accept change. You can't do the same thing over and over again, and we've undergone some changes, of course, over the years. And this one is very interesting," he continued.

"Because we're working on a new album; we have to have a new album next year. And we can't stop writing. That's what we do."

In July 2022, Steve officially left Deep Purple to take care of his wife,ola, who is battling cancer.

Morse' announcement comes four months after guitarist said he would take time off from Deep Purple, in hopes of rejoining his bandmates after his wife's health improved. Morse was replaced by Simon during the tour before he took over the position permanently.

Simon, who is a guitar player, singer, and songwriter, comes from Belfast, Northern Ireland the birthplace of legends like Gary Moore and Rory Gallagher, as well as bands such as Thin Lizzy, Stiff Little Finger and of course U2.

His career journey tells many stories starting from his band tour without sound engineer, driver, or roadie, playing 30 shows in 35 days, until he often shares the stage with Ian Gillan and Don Airey.
