JAKARTA - Steve Lukather, the founding member of the legendary rock band TOTO, will release a new studio album, Bridges, on June 16 through The Players Club / Mascot Label Group.
Steve shares the meaning behind the selection of the title of his ninth solo album, Bridges which in Indonesian means 'bridge'.
"I see it as a bridge between my solo music and TOTO music. The fact that Joseph Williams, David Paich and I wrote most of the recordings, and the fact that I invited a lot of old TOTO gangs to come and play, co-authors like Randy Goodrum and Stan Lynch put all this together.
"This also proves that most of my old friends and I are still good friends, and I want to make'style' recordings, because TOTO will never record a studio album again. This is as close as we will get," he continued.
"We still like to write and be creative and record together, and we will definitely continue to work with each other in our respective solo works. It's complicated, and at my age now, I don't want to do anything complicated."
Among the repertoire recorded, Far From Over is a song Steve wrote with his eldest son Trevor.
"Lucu... when he was born 35 years ago, I looked into his eyes before I cut his place and said to myself, 'I wonder if he's going to follow in my footsteps?' He really did! It's a great joy because he's really great!" Steve explained.
"I wish I could say I taught him everything but I didn't. He was the only one of my four children to enter the music (so far), and make it his life. He has a natural talent that cannot be learned. I am very proud."
The official lyric video for the album's main singer, When I See You Again, can be seen below.
