Getting To Know Genesis G80 Electrified, Erick Thohir's Electric Vehicle Competes With Mercedes EQE

JAKARTA - Recently, the luxury car Genesis G80 Electrified belonging to the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, was hotly discussed. The Genesis G80 Electrified electric car in 2022 is one of Erick's four vehicles in the 2022 State Administrators Wealth Report (LHKPN).

Hyundai itself has yet to officially sell Genesis G80 Electrified in the country. Previously, Genesis G80 Electrified was a vehicle used by several heads of state during the G20 Summit in Bali in November. The luxury electric car from Hyundai became a daily vehicle in running the offices of several state officials while in Bali.

Even though it is electric, the performance of the car, which debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show 2021, cannot be underestimated. This long sedan has dual electric motors on each front and rear. Thus, the G80 Electrified is able to power 370 dk and generate a maximum torque of 700 Nm, as written on the official Genesis website. This performance is more powerful when compared to the Mercedes EQE Saloon with 292 dk power.

Having a dual electric motor, Genesis G80 Electrified can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hour within 4.9 seconds.

Not only impressive about speeding, the battery consumption is also amazing. With a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 87.2 kWh, this car can cover a distance of up to 427 km when the battery is fully charged. With 800V charging, the saloon car can charge from 10 to 80 percent within 22 minutes. If the normal charging is from 10 to 100 percent, it takes 9 hours.

Despite losing in terms of runways, Mercedes-Benz EQE Saloon is more than 635 km ahead according to the WLTP cycle. The charging is no less than 32 minutes with a charge of 10 to 80 percent.

The price of Genesis G80 Electrified reached IDR 1.67 billion according to the LHKPN. Meanwhile, Mercedes EQE Saloon is priced at IDR 2.21 billion higher.
