Suga BTS Dominates Japan's Oricon Song Chart With Album D-Day

JAKARTA - A member of the BTS idol group, Suga, has successfully dominated the Japanese charts with his latest solo album "D-Day." Appearing with the stage name Agust D, Suga with "D-Day" and other songs managed to score results in the top ranking on Oricon's charts. The album shot straight up to first place for Oricon's daily album after its release on Friday, April 21. Quoted from the Korea Herald via Antara, the feat was achieved with more than 110,000 copies sold in Japan on the first day. The song "Haegeum" landed in rank number 3 for the daily digital single category, with the album's B-side song also coming to the top 20: "Snooze (feat. Ryuichi Sakamoto, Kim Woo-sung of The Rose)" on No. 13. Then there is "Huh?! (feat. J-Hope)" at number 14, "D-Day" at number 15, "Life Goes On" at number 17, "Amygdala" at number 18, "SDL" at number 19 and "Polar Night" at number 20". For "Haegeum", it even topped the top charts on iTunes in more than 90 countries around the world on Saturday (22/4). Meanwhile, the music video uploaded on the HYBE Labels YouTube channel managed to reach 10 million views in less than one day. Suga started his solo career in 2016 as Agust D by introducing the mixtape "August D". He has released two full-length mixtapes and is working with many local and foreign musicians as producers. "D-Day" is Suga's first album in three years since the release of their second mixtape series "D-2" in May 2020. The album concludes Suga's musical trilogy, which also includes two previous mixtapes. In short, Suga shared the album "D-Day" carrying a message of release that was depicted in the 10 songs in it. Suga is the fifth member of BTS to soloize after the group officially announced it would take a break in July 2022.

The 30-year-old is currently preparing for his solo concert tour starting from Belmont Park in New York, USA on April 26-27 2023 and continuing his tour to other Asian countries in the coming months.
