Jokowi: The Bocimi Toll Road Is A Gift Of Indonesian Independence For The People Of West Java

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, and Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, inaugurated the Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi (Bocimi) Section II Cigombong-Cibadak Toll Road, today, Friday, August 4.

This toll road is touted as one of the sections that all people in West Java have been waiting for. This is because people from Jakarta who want to go to the Sukabumi area can cut their travel time from 6-8 hours to 2.5 hours.

On this occasion, President Jokowi said that the construction of the Bocimi toll road was a gift for the people of West Java. This is because the Republic of Indonesia will celebrate its 78th Independence Day, on August 17.

"Yes, this is the gift of the 78th Independence Day (RI) to West Java Province (West Java), especially to Sukabumi," Jokowi told the media crew, Friday, August 4.

Jokowi added, in the future, the government through the Ministry of PUPR will encourage the acceleration of the construction of the Bocimi Toll Road as a whole.

"(For the construction of the next side of the toll road) it will be pushed as soon as possible, until later to West Sukabumi," he said.

For your information, the Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi Toll Road has 4 sections with a total length of 54 km with the progress of Section 1 Ciawi-Cigombong along 15.35 km has been operating since December 2018. Then, two other sections, namely Section 3 Cibadak-West Sukabumi along 13.70 km and Section 4 of the Sukabumi Barat-East Sukabumi section along 13.05 km in the progress of land acquisition.

Section 2 Cigombong-Cibadak has been operational since the Lebaran homecoming flow on April 15, 2023 to May 1, 2023 and recorded an average daily traffic increase of 66.20 percent compared to the 2022 homecoming period, which is an average of around 38,716 passing vehicles.

This toll road is expected to be an alternative link to tourism areas around the Lido area, Sukabumi, Pelabuhan Ratu, Ujung Genteng, to Geopark Ciletuh.

The presence of this toll road will also further facilitate the economic connectivity of the community, both from the industrial, goods and services sectors, because it will be connected to the southern part of West Java such as Bogor and Ciawi.
