Pertamina Records 3 Kg Elpiji Consumption In July 2023 Up 2 Percent

JAKARTA- Pertamina Patra Niaga noted that there was an excess of 3 kilograms of LPG (Kg) quota of 2 percent in July 2023.

Pertamina's Corporate Secretary Patra Niaga Irto Ginting said the increase in the quota began during the Eid al-Adha holiday period and continued for several long holidays in July.

"There has been an overquote of two percent year to date from the set quota," said Irto to reporters, Thursday, July 27.

Despite experiencing overquates, Irto said that his party had moved quickly by taking several steps, including coordinating with local governments to map areas that could potentially experience a shortage of quota for the melon gas cylinder.

"So that we can add or operate the market," added Irto.

Furthermore, Pertamina Patra Niaga also anticipates the misuse of LPG 3 kg by cooperating with law enforcement officials (APH).

"The third speeds up the registment of the subsidy program on LPG target so that the distribution can be more targeted," continued Irto.

By taking these steps, Irto hoped, the supply of LPG gas could return to normal in the next two to three days.

For information, the number of PSO LPG or subsidies that have been set by the government is 8 million metric tons and this amount is specifically for underprivileged communities or households and micro-enterprises.

"For this reason, we urge all people to be able to have several businesses such as restaurants, livestock and others to use non-subsidized LPG so that people who are entitled to get their rights," said Irto.

Previously, Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati revealed, according to government data, around 60 million households were entitled to receive subsidies out of a total of 88 million households or about 68 percent.

"But today if you look at the data, what percentage of subsidized Elpini sales to total LPG are actually high, reaching 96 percent, so we can see that there is something that is not right in its subsidy. Therefore, we are also working with law enforcement officials to check to ensure the distribution is right on target," said Nicke.
