The Directorate General of Housing of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed the construction of 22 towers of Construction Workers (HPK) in the State Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago.

The HPK in the form of flats is built with modular technology that prioritizes construction speed and minimizes remaining materials (zero waste).

To date, as many as 12 towers are functional and become a place to live for construction workers who build a number of infrastructures at IKN Nusantara.

Director General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR Iwan Suprijanto said, in the construction of the HPK, his party implemented at least three criteria for implementing development with the principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) or Environment, Social, and Governance (LST).

"First, environmental or environmental by implementing lean construction and green construction, the second is social or social which aims to provide more appropriate facilities for construction workers who build IKN," said Iwan in a written statement, Thursday, April 13.

"Furthermore, the third is governance or corporate governance, namely building more neat, healthy, efficient, and effective construction governance," he added.

Iwan said, in the construction of the HPK, the Ministry of PUPR also implemented a Construction Safety Management System (SMKK) in accordance with the Minister of PUPR Regulation Number 10 of 2021, so that work in the field runs according to plan and is safe from the construction side.

"The HPK can accommodate as many as 14,736 construction workers, and some of these towers have also been inhabited by construction workers," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Implementation Center for the Provision of Housing for Kalimantan II H. Hujurat said the construction of the HPK was a form of government attention to IKN Nusantara construction workers so that they could live in decent housing.

In addition, it is also to minimize the emergence of slum areas around IKN Nusantara.

"Development starts from August 29, 2022, to January 20, 2023, by at least 368 workers involved. The implementing contractor is PT. Wijaya Karya Building-PT. Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk. KSO with a budget of around Rp567.1 billion," he said.

Furthermore, said Hujurat, the Ministry of PUPR has also equipped the HPK with a number of supporting facilities, such as mess hall or multipurpose room, dining room, place of worship, health clinic, management office, and several other supporting facilities.

"Currently, the HPK will immediately hand over management from the Ministry of PUPR to the IKN Authority to be managed through the Authority-Owned Enterprises," he concluded.
